Niggel "LBK ButtNuster" Yip

"What up, I'm Niggel, 16 years old repping the New school Mcnally. I go by the names LBK or ButtNuster, i mainly play melee, then pm, and not brawl. i main the manliest mf alive captain in melee and in pm i play his father Ganondorf. i started playing with the rest of the seamen around December January, we started a little elo ranking between our small group and thats how we started really learning the advance techniques of the game."

"What does LBK stand for? And who are the Seamen? Does Seamen stand for anything as well?"

"LBK stands for the little boy king, everyone calls me an LB and oneday i think some one called me the king of LB's and so i embraced it lol
the seamen the group of kids that i started playing with, group consists of Gabriel Tang, Silas Kwok,Geoff Chan, Kent Lee, and Terence Yeung. SEAmen stand for super elite alliance just kidding its the south Edmonton asians. We also go by CsO aka C-Stick Only cause you can literally move across the stage as spacies with the c stick. Thats all you'll ever need.

"How did you all discover smash? Whats the history behind the SEAmen group, how did you guys form?"

"We always played brawl since it came out, we're all from the same church so when our parents meet up we would all play brawl with each other, it was kinda competitive around our group, the first time i actually heard about competitive smash was probably that weird kid Andrew Tran. and then the next time i played smash with the seamen i showed them a smash video i think was called "the comeback" or some shit like that, we then discovered pm, all the advanced techniques and from there it was a race between all of us to learn these techniques and get an edge on the other guys. we'd host at peoples houses every now and then, run a small bracket and then the elo was created. Silas and Kent joined later but really brought the game intensity up --shoutout to pretty boy silas. then we all slowly shifted to melee"

"Why do you think silas and kent in particular brought the intensity up in your group?"

"Well Kent at first was all tardy and shit so he never really put effort into it. one day we brought silas over to one of our little tourneys, and he just picked up Zelda, we all started showing him Zhime combo videos and he just went home and studied the shit out of them, we'd have a monitor set up beside his computer and play smash when he was queuing up in league or cs go. i swear he had this list of heads he wanted to hunt cause slowly he destroyed everyone one by one. everyone was scared of Silas, we hate to admit it but its the truth *laughs*. So we all went home and practiced a lot -- note, this is still pm). meanwhile Kent was at home playing melee, he started messing around with fox and i guess he just committed to it, and he was the first to actually move over to melee and got pretty good at that, sooner or later we all moved over, even Silas -- he had to learn g controller. and having those two just super into the game really motivated me and the rest of the group to really get better. Oh yeah and Allen popped into our scene somewhere in there."

"You were also involved with a high school smash scene from Mcnally, which was an incredibly large and active scene for a few months, save for a few who still remain active. What do you think caused the end of the Mcnally smash scene but the growing success of your current SEAMen with those nally kids, you see them pick something up new every few weeks or so, some stick and i guess smash just wasnt one of them, when i was at their meetups after school they never really took the game to get extremely better, it was all friendlies. and i guess thats the difference between us seamen, we're all pretty competitive and everyone really understands you cant get better with out that drive to practice for hours."

"What are you goals for smash right now?"

"Personally i wanna pull a Bernard Fong yeah he might not have the highest ranking but i dont think anyone can really say hes bad, i wanna be able to get my movement smooth and i think that'll open up more of the game for me. #falconforthepeople"

"Judging from your previous statements, do you think you'll be able to settle with just being 'good enough'?"

"I dont i'll ever settle average, i'll eventually get fed up with losing and go hard at it"

"But you don't feel that way just yet?"

"Ive been too busy to really practice, and i always see Andrew Parker's hosting when i get home and its usually too late, i still wanna get really good, but when i stop i still want that recognition and that no one can deny i was pretty good"
